Day 1 - City tour

Arrival. Meeting with an English speaking guide.

City tour This majestic city is steeped in history and beauty. A trip here combines the old and the new - learn the story of communism while enjoying the cosmopolitan life of modern-day Moscow. You will see Moscow’s renowned Red Square, near the 16th Century St. Basil's Cathedral, one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world, plus the constructivist pyramid of Lenin's Mausoleum.

Travel over Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, a concrete arch structure which spans the Moscow River and connects the Red Square and Bolshaya Ordynka Street of Zamoskvorechye. The bridge's architect, Alexey Shchusev, chose pink granite as the facade to make the bridge look as if built by real rock. Absorb the history of Balchug street, one of the oldest Moscow streets outside of the Kremlin walls. Admire the unmistakable red brick factory of Red October which is situated on Bolotny Island in the middle of the Moscow River and has become an architectural icon.

The museum is packed with over 3,500 exhibits. The fantastic interior is covered with constellations, star clusters and distant universes, while the museum itself exhibits the most important Russian and Soviet achievements in space exploration, from the launch of the first artificial satellite and the first manned space flight, to the first moonwalk.

Lunch in the local restaurant (optional)

Visit to VDNKh. Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy is a permanent general purpose trade show and amusement park in Moscow. Between 1991 and 2014 it was also called the All-Russia Exhibition Centre. The park was built during Stalin's time. Created to be a showcase for the achievements of the Soviet empire, VDNKh had pavilions dedicated to a particular industry or a field (engineering, space, atomic energy, the people's education, Soviet culture and many others).

Exc. to Cosmonautics and Aviation Centre. The largest space museum complex in Russia, the Cosmonautics and Aviation Centre at VDNH. The Centre's exposition features more than 120 unique exhibits of aircraft and spacecraft which have never been exhibited in museums before; exhibits of the military-industrial complex enterprises; more than two thousand rare archival documents, photo and video materials. Under the dome of the pavilion, there are game simulators, the Monolith and Cosmic Sphere exposition modules, which is a unique 5D cinema where one can watch the story of exploration of the Universe, from the Big Bang theory to the prospects of colonizing Mars.
