Why should your family holidays be limited to the usual suspects? Your child will never be bored in Saint Petersburg! We have developed a kid-friendly tour especially for little explorers who cannot sit still. Combining a typical tour with different activities for children gives an equal opportunity for everyone in a group to enjoy their tour.
Start your day with a city tour. You will get acquainted with the history and modern life of Saint Petersburg. Your local guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel and take you on a voyage of discovery through the city’s major sights where they will make photo stops along the tour by the many beautiful attractions such as; Nevsky prospect, the beautiful Arts Square, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Kazan Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Mariinsky Theatre and The Palace Square. During the city tour, you will visit Saint Isaac's Cathedral. It is the largest orthodox basilica and the fourth largest cathedral in the world. It was built by Auguste de Monferran in 1812-1858. The floor, walls, arches and huge pillars of the interior are skillfully decorated with fourteen kinds of marble. The tour also includes St. Isaac's Cathedral colonnade, although one has to overcome more than two hundred steps to get there, but it's worth it for the magnificent view over the city!
Have lunch at a local restaurant (optional) and continue your trip.
Explore the whole of Russia in miniature. Visit Grand Maket Russia Interactive museum. You can see everything this huge country has to offer on a smaller scale (800 square meters). The layout is a three-dimensional dynamic model of Russia with mountains, rivers, lakes, forests and railroads. Your family can walk around. There are no set routes to follow.
You will start your tour with a visit to the Matryoshka-doll painting class. Paint your own matryoshka-doll being taught by a professional artist in one of the cafes. Set your creativity free and design your own doll! You will be provided with matryoshka-dolls (one per person), acrylic paint and all other necessary items for the process. This is a great entertainment not just for children but also for adults. After finishing painting your doll you can enjoy a cup of tea (children can have a glass of cranberry juice instead) with some real Russian pancakes.
Hermitage, the largest museum in Russia and one of the most important and well-known museums of the world. The museum boasts 353 rooms, filled with masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Giorgione, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and others. The total number of pieces kept by the museum tallies to somewhere around 3 million. Your children can have fun at the Hermitage. You can visit the Knights' Room where you can find a wide range of tournament, parade and hunting gear, as well as armour, edged weapons and firearms. The room of Ancient Egypt contains an Egyptian mummy. This will be the highlight of your tour.
*You can also – at a push – see the General Staff Building (not included in the price) after visiting Hermitage, although we recommend doing it another day to fully enjoy it.
Your guide will accompany you to your hotel after a long and mesmerizing day.
