St. Petersburg was founded to be not only the new capital but first of all to be the main trade and naval port of the Russian Empire. The idea to create an open and contemporary port made St. Petersburg the city it became nowadays: the center is situated on islands; with its wide part the city is open to the Gulf of Finland with a still navigable river cut St. Petersburg into two parts. The history of Russian fleet is full of fascinating stories and exciting inventions and achievements. It is also a story of deep connection with European history of shipbuilding.

We invite you to see the most exciting historical and modern marine objects of the city in our special marine tour. Let’s visit the Naval museum, walk to the New Holland Island, former industrial object turned into modern creative space. We will drive along the most beautiful road of the city with the view on the Gulf of Finland, modern trade port and cruise passenger port the Marine Façade and then will see the historical soviet and tsarist ports and ships, including an ice-breaker Krasin and famous cruiser Aurora which became a symbol of the Russian revolution at the beginning of XX century.
